Your work visa (Work Permit, S-Pass, Employment Pass, EntrePass, and Personalised Employment Pass) is considered canceled on the last date of employment.
After this, you will be issued a 30-day short term visit pass to settle anything outstanding. During departure from Singapore, you will be asked to return the EP card to the Immigration officer.
You need to know that your salary will be withheld by your employer for tax clearance with IRAS. Once a Tax Clearance Certificate is issued by the IRAS after assessment, then only your salary will be released. This confirms that your tax liabilities have been accounted for.
The processing period is within 21 days, and if there are outstanding tax liabilities against you, a stop order certificate may be issued by IRAS.
The above regulations apply to people on work pass. Singaporeans and PRs are not subjected to this procedure.
