What Is the maternity leave structure in Singapore?

How much maternity leave is available in Singapore? Related rules and regulations?

Maternity leave applies to expectant mothers, as they are entitled to paid maternity leave after the birth of their child. As a working mother, you will be entitled to either 16 weeks of Government-Paid Maternity Leave or 12 weeks of maternity leave, depending on whether your child is a Singapore citizen and other criteria.

For the mother of a Singapore Citizen child, maternity leave is fully paid. Whereas in other cases (non-Singapore Child) the last 4 weeks of maternity leave is unpaid.

The expectant mother needs to be covered under the Employment Act and also requires to have served the employer for a continuous period of minimum 3 months before the birth of your child.

You need to give at least 1-week notice before going on maternity leave, or else you may not be entitled to half the payment during maternity leave.
